I came here on a random day, craving kimchi jjigae which they didn't have but it turns out, this place was known for their oxtail soup which is my favorite. I ordered it hoping it lived up to the hype and it definitely did! The broth was so good and there was plenty of meat. Usually other places give you like 4 pieces or so but they gave about 6. The complimentary kimchi was pretty good too. I hate it when it tastes bad because for me, kimchi is such an integral part of korean food. Service was great and the vibe was nice. It was a nice mix of demographics.

Little pricey, but good food. The waitresses there need to understand that a tip is not mandatory and is completely up to the customer. One had the audacity to mention to my mother, who is a senior that the tip wasn't enough. My mother was buying my family lunch and she is retired due to health. She does not have money to throw at people that want to get paid more for "doing there job". I get the staff's perspective to a certain degree, but we also frequent the restaurant which we stopped going to now. There is another lady who is more aggressive and instigates this. Not sure if it's the owner or whether it's another employee. I refuse to go to any restaurant where employees do this. For the owner, you have too much competition and high rent to lose customers like this. Please address this.

One of those spots that you go to on a cold day. Their staple dish is good, service is rather fast and price is fair. 24 hours operation is always a plus.

We were shopping at H-Mart and were craving some jjigae, when we noticed Gahwa in the same parking structure. Normally I want the kimchi jjigae but it wasn't on the menu so I ventured out for a different spicy option. My wife got an ox tail stew. I was blow away at how flavorful my option was and the portion was more than enough for the restaurant and then for dinner that night. My wife thoroughly enjoyed herself and had enough for dinner as well. If you're in the are give it a try!

I am addicted to Sul Long Tang (ox bone soup) recently due to the chilling weather and I have been asking for recommendation among my friends. Gahwa Korea Restaurant is the top 1 from my friend’s bucket list, who lives in Flushing’s Korea town neighborhood over 20 years. The location is perfect and easy to park since they share a huge parking lot with HMart. We were there at about 7:00pm on a Sunday evening and seated immediately with adequate service. When we walked in from the entrance in the back (from the parking lot), we saw there was a huge bucket continuously boiling their signature Sul Long Tang. I tried their Dogani Tang, cow knee in ox bone soup, which tasted super delicious, the soup was rich with collagen and simply well flavored without any additional seasoning. I felt amazingly comforted and warm after having it. Only complaint was their sides, there was only kimchi served but their kimchi was tasty and flavored with sugar.

Old fashioned but good food. Smaller selection than others but still. My mom liked her 순대. The 매밁국수 was all right. Tastes too healthy... Good 순두부찌개 but I think all restaurants use the same blend.

I've tried their seolleongtang and the broth is boiled to perfection, just add salt! Also, their kimchi is the best I've ever had, hands down.

This is a nice spot for bone soup.. 설렁탕... It's spot on. This and cartilage soup... 도가니탕... Not bad for the other dishes also. I usually hit this spot for Sunday brunch... In my younger days I would hit this spot after drinking!

Went to Gahwa for the first time and was exceedingly happy with their authentic cuisine. So far I've only had their signature dish, sulleongtang but it was a delight. It's as good as the best in Seoul. The kimchi and accompanying side dishes were just perfect. One reason it's as good as the best in Korea is because they are making it exactly the way it should be, by boiling the beef bones in two gigantic steel kettles for a very long time. I'm going back to try their other dishes. I highly recommend the sulleongtang at this restaurant to anyone who wants genuine, authentic tasting Korean beef bone soup.

Delicious oxtail bone soup and stone pot bibimbap. Nothing beats a bowl of rice and veggies cooked in a stone pot until the edges get crispy. Then add in a rich broth made with oxtail. The broth is constantly cooking and you can witness the action as you walk to the back of the restaurant. Perfect for a cold day or when you’re feeling a little under the weather.

Freshest Kimchi ! No MSG in ox tail soup. It is simple soup n noodle, u can add in ur own salt n scallion, to fit your own taste.Servers are very friendly, recommend us to pick some food versus the others, as some food are quite authentic Korean that might not suit everyone .

I heard its soup was good and open 24hr do wanted to checkout. I have to say this building need msjor renovation to keep up eith competitions. Soup wasn't any better than what I can make. Oxtail is low quality, side dish is just cabbage and turnips but you can ask refill like all Korean restaurant offers. Seafood Tofu soup has good flavor but much seafood you can actually eat. Portion size is surprisingly small. If you are in the area late at night might be a place to stop by. I would take 5 extra min to go to Flushing or 10min yo the other Hmart across it there a 24hr soup place that tastes good and newer interior.

We were there for the first time. We ordered 3 different soup bowls. But even if we ordered 3 different soup bowls, the soup base was same taste with 3 different contents. I was very disappointed and my wife’s soup was not even warm and had to ask reheated.

Can I just say, I love Gahwa! They make the best soups hands down around the area and the best priced too! For $9.80 you get a big cup of soup with bread, an apple, and a sandwich. I don't know why I never came here all this time, but now that I found you Gahwa. I will never go astray. You got the perfect spot in my belly.

The best Dolsot (hot stone pot) bibimbob place. It's a bit pricey but I would say it is worth paying the price. Modumbossam with fresh oyster was good as well. This restaurant is known for the hot soup called Seolleongtang and DoganyTang.I went to This place on Saturday. Food was 5/5. Waiting was 4.5/5. Service was 3.5/5. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place for the Dolsot bibimbob.

The trick of eating the bone broth soup is to add very small amount of salt at a time until the soup starts to taste sweet. You would think the soup would be salty, but no it will be sweet with just the right amount of salt then turn extremely salty with a bit more of salt after. Don't over salt it!
